Kuching Trip 2014

August already!

Here, I share my most recent trip with my university friends!
Which is also a really long due post that I should have made almost a month ago. Time passes so fast and i'm left with almost another month here back at home.

We had this plan to visit another state in the Borneo because it would be really hard for us to come again after we've graduated, thus we decided we should visit Sarawak before we leave!
Only a part of Sarawak though, which is Cat city, Kuching.
It's considered a budget trip, we managed to keep everything under RM 550 inclusive of flight tickets.
But! Our flight tickets are pretty expensive, around RM 220+ two ways, from KK to Kuching and back to KL.
Thus, we actually only spent RM 330 for accommodation, transport, food and travelling. :)
The whole trip was 4 days 3 nights. We stayed in the same hotel for the whole trip, since it's easier this way.

Day 0 - We flew on a Saturday night, immediately a day post exam. First picture above was taken in KKIA Terminal 1. Pretty excited to fly with a bunch of friends for the very first time.
Day 1- Breakfast around our hotel area, and Kuching's food is surprisingly much more cheaper than KK's food. We somehow came out with the answer that it's probably because Kuching is so much more bigger and has proportionately more Chinese staying around the town, hence the highly competitive food business, leading to everyone trying to out stand everyone else by selling their food cheaper.
A meal there with a drink will cost around RM 5 lowest, I suppose. In KK a meal with a drink will cost you almost RM 8 at least.
Day 1- We first went and visit the Cat museum (which has nothing much to see, really) and then headed to eat some famous food around the streets of Kuching. Also visited one of the shopping malls, and then ended up in one of the famous hawker place in Kuching. I think it's 101!
I actually felt the place reminded me of Taiwan and their night market, except this hawker place has not much stalls selling other things besides food.
The last picture is solely for entertainment purposes. Hahaha.

Day 2 - Much more fun because we visited Fairy Cave, hiked and sweated like crap. Lol. And went to Blue Lake, which is really nice. For a scenery person like me, I love the Blue Lake. The weather was really fair that day, and our reflection was captured so beautifully by the surface of the lake. :)
And then we went to the Semanggor Wildlife Centre to visit the Orang Utans! We were lucky to see one around during our visit. Totally adorable. :D
We headed to UNIMAS and was totally impressed at how modern their architecture is...... unlike UMS. Lol. UMS is more of. Traditional style I guess.
They have gym and courts and swimming pool!
But we have a beach lah. Lol.

Day 3 was for Cultural Village! We spent a few hours there and our favourite part was probably the show. After the performance we just went around visiting the place that has houses of different ethnics. Great place for people who love traditional architecture.

The last day was just getting souvenirs for our family, since our flight was afternoon.
Last picture was taken in the airport :D

This was the silliest picture we took in the whole trip, courtesy of Jiayung's friend. Hahahaha.
But well, good memories, eh?

Last picture!
Fooddddddd!
Kuching's food is not bad overall, but we had so much of kolomee and three layer tea in the entire trip I think I was gonna throw up at those words in a few weeks post trip. Lol.
I really like the Kongpia! And the porridge omg/. There's this place who sell like the best porridge that I've ever eaten. I was never a fan of porridge but that was so heavenly. Would go back for the porridge.
:)

Aite, just for pictures and fun.

PS: My yeobo is back from the States! So happy :)
